What is pollution? Pollution is introducing contaminants into the natural environment that cause a bad impact in it. We can classify the pollution in different ways but the most used one is focusing in what is polluted. Land pollution is the wearing down of earth’s land caused by human activities. The cause of land pollution is littering. Air pollution is releasing gas particles or chemicals to the air. Some of the causes of air pollutions are factories and motored vehicles. Last but not least we have water pollution that is the contamination of water bodies some causes of water pollution is trash and sewage waste dumped into the ocean, smoke, chemicals dumped into the water and oil leaks. Severe incidents of pollution helped increase consciousness on the society.
Pollution became an important subject issue after World War II, due to radioactive fallout from atomic warfare and testing. The development of nuclear science introduced radioactive contamination, which can remain lethally radioactive for hundreds of thousands of years. Growing evidence of local and global pollution and an increasingly informed public over time have given to environmentalism and the environmental movement, which generally seek to limit human impact on the environment.
Pollution control is a term used in environmental management. It means the control of emissions and effluents into air, water or soil. Without pollution control, the waste products from human consumption whether they accumulate or disperse will degrade the environment. To protect the environment from adverse effects of pollution, many nations worldwide have enacted legislation to regulate various types of pollution as well as to mitigate the adverse effects of pollution.
