CARBON DIOXIDE AND ITS IMPACT ON CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change is the greatest environmental threat of the century, with economic, social and environmental consequences of great magnitude. Without exception; citizens, businesses, economies and nature around the world are being affected.
TRAFFIC POLLUTION
The climate has always varied, dynamic, not stable and there have always been variations. The problem of climate change is that in the last century the pace of these changes has been greatly accelerated, and the trend is that this acceleration will be exponential if the control measures are not taken. The pounding beat of this climate change will result in great physical changes such as rising sea levels, massive environmental damage and serious threats to humanity and spread of diseases, damage from violent weather events, crop failure, reduced water resources, among other problems[pic 1][pic 2]
INCREASED ATMOSPHERIC CO2 CONCENTRATION AND DEGRADATION OF CARBON SINKS
Carbon dioxide, which comes from both fossil fuels and deforestation, is accumulating in the atmosphere. Ice records indicate that there are now more CO2 in the atmosphere than at any time in the past 650,000 years. In 2007, the atmospheric concentration of CO2 was 384 parts per million (ppm), up from 280 ppm at the start of the industrial revolution. Between 2000 and 2007, the atmospheric concentration of CO2 grew by an average of 2 ppm per year, the fastest increase in seven years since monitoring began in 1959.
Only half of the CO2 released into the atmosphere every year actually remains there, for at least 45% is quickly hijacked by carbon sinks s uch as plants and the ocean.[pic 3][pic 4]
