IKEA is known as a manufacturer and distributor of furniture company, however the product portfolio currently covers have many more product lines .
We can classify the Swedish multinational products from different points of view. To begin , based on the nature or tangibility that all products are tangible but could do except offer a shuttle service that would be classified as intangible. On the other hand , and rated according to fungibility , we have to separate the product line " feeding" from the rest . All food products would be included in goods for immediate consumption while the rest of its portfolio of products are consumer durables. To complete the classification of IKEA products as we will analyze the frequency and buying effort. Within this classification we differentiate between convenience products , shopping sporadic or specialty . Most clients who approach the local IKEA do to renew the furnishings of their homes and this fact which is rare and whose efforts to purchase can be quite high , so we are facing some specialty products . However locals are distributed so that before reaching the exit clients go through an area where there are very low price products which makes the
buying effort is minimal , considering impulse buying products ( encompassed in convenience products ) such as consumables such as batteries or bulbs or low-priced food products. Finally IKEA also characterized by original products in design especially in terms of decor items . These products are characterized by a frequency and average purchase effort , very influenced by fashion , are included in the category of sporadic purchase.
As mentioned above not only has an IKEA furniture line but in the catalog store or shopping online can see that much difference their products depending on the utility that these are creating many product lines such as: outdoor furniture , kitchen , dining room , bedroom, workplace, IKEA and children, youth room , hallway, secondary storage , washing and ironing, bathroom , lighting, decor and mirrors, small storage , textiles , cooking , dining. These groups are made with the idea of giving the customer the choice of furniture and decor for every room and therefore in IKEA stores have mounted the different options of accommodation to the customer to see in advance how you will meet your future room or kitchen. However this makes the customer have difficulty finding a shelf for the kitchen if this is designed for a bedroom , for example.
