Health Care System

Objective:

Investigate about the health care system, and analyze the advantages and disadvantages.

Procedure:

1. First I entered to blackboard, English VIII, activity 3.

2. I read the homework instruction, and I search on the internet information about the health care system in Mexico.

3. Then I read the information that I found and I analyze what would be the disadvantages and advantages of this service.

4. I placed the information in a report rubric.

5. And finally I made the conclusion of the theme.

Results:

The health system in Mexico is composed of two sectors: the public and private sectors. The public sector involves the social security institutions like IMSS, ISSSTE and others, that provide services to workers in the formal sector of the economy, and the institutions that protect and serve the population without social security, among which are included the “Seguro Popular de la Salud”, “Secretaria de Salud”, “Servicios Estatales de Salud”, and the program “IMSS-Oportunidades”; and the private sector provides services to people with capacity to pay, this sector is financed by payments made by users when they receive medical attention and with the private health insurance, also the medical attention in hospitals and clinics.

The advantages and disadvantages of the health care system in Mexico

Advantage:

• Free distribution of some medicines

• Free vaccinations to the population

• Lower cost of medications

• People who cannot afford medical services have the opportunity to have one free.

Disadvantages

• “Limited access to specialists”

• “Health services bureaucratized”

• Poor medical service

• Long hours of waiting for a query

• Not everybody can have social insurance

• Many urban areas do not have these services

Conclusion:

It is important to know the health care system of Mexico and the advantages and disadvantages, if it´s a good or a bad system, and also earning how to use the correct ways of writing a text.
