Objective: Answer the questions on the TOEIC, thus giving us more idea of what you will see in this semester.

Who takes TOEIC and why?
People who are preparing to enter the workforce individuals who want to measure their speaking and writing skills in English. Managerial, sales and technical employees in international business, industry, commerce and government.
Where do people take it?
This given at open public sessions, and at companies and language schools around the world.
Who accepts TOEIC scores?
The test is widely accepted by corporations, English-language programs and government agencies around the world. Corporations use TOEIC tes to document progress in English training programs, recruit and promote employees, and put standard measurements in place across locations. English programs use it to place students at the right learning levels, and show student progress and program effectiveness. Government agencies use it to document progress in English language courses, and to recruit, promote and hire employees.
What is the testing format?
The TOEIC listening and reading test is a paper and pencil, multiple-choice assessment. There are two timed sections of 100 questions each.
How many sections does the test have?
The test has two sections:
o Listening.
o Reading.
What is the test content for section 1?
Test takers listen to a variety of questions and short conversations recorded in English, then answer questions based on what they have heard(100 items total).
o Photographs
o Questions response
o Conversations
o Short talks.
What is the test content for section 2?
Reading:
• Incomplete sentences
• Recognize mistake or complete the text
• Reading comprehension
How long does each section take?
The duration is aprpox. Two hours and a half:
45 minutes for the first section.
75 minutes for the second section.
How do TOEIC and TOEFL compare in terms of:
Purpose of TOEIC is evaluates English proficiency for the global workplace and for TOEFL is evaluates English proficiency for those pursuing academic studies.
Length of TOEIC is 120 minute and the TOEFL is 115 minutes.
Format of TOEIC is 200 multiple-choice questions and the TOEFL is 140 multiple-choice questions.
Scores of TOEIC is 10-990 total, 5-495 listening comprehension, 5-495 reading comprehension and the TOEFL is 310-677 total, 30-68 listening comprehension, 30-68 structure and written expression, 30-67 reading comprehension.
