The Battle Was Lost, and it Left Scars

She woke up suddenly, crying so much she couldn’t hold back any tear. For holding back those tears so many years. Not understanding why things ended they way they did. She relived that day in her mind all the time, she would never be able to let go of the horrible feeling that tormented her all the years to come. Her father was everything to her, the sun on a bright day and the breeze on cold nights.

On April 22nd 2013, a young girl received a call early in the morning from a friend of her family. Informing her that her father was in the hospital and that he wasn’t doing well, two weeks had passed since he entered the hospital. But now was the moment this girl was given notice of what was going on. Understanding she couldn't do anything for her father she just asks to speak to the doctor who is assisting her fathers medical condition. But she never in her years of living thought that call would end with the second worst news she could have received in her short period of life. The doctor told her, “Your father is not well at all, he is trying to fight something that is undefeatable. Young lady I cant assure your father will live for another week.” She told the doctor, “ If you cant assure me a week, don't assure me a day.” In this moment holding back all her tears she hangs up the phone.

Deciding she needs some air she calls a friend and invites her to walk around. It was around 5:00 PM of that same day she heads home to eat and be with her grandma that is sad and hurt as much as she is. While walking home she feels a sudden emptiness, and relief. In her mind she knew that her father had passed away because she felt the same way when her mother passed away. Once she is close to the place she calls home, from far she realizes her grandmother was outside the house crying and being hugged by her grandson. From that instant she knew her emptiness and relief had a cause and it hit the pin point which was that her father passed away, he lost the battle to the undefeatable.

“Crying is a great relief for the soul that is deeply hurt.”
