1.       Making meaning: It is the desire to change the world. Determine how you can making meaning, how you can change the world, and you’ll probably make money through making meaning. You have to start off making meaning, changing the world and finally you’ll probably make money. If you don’t start in this way you’ll probably fail.

Some example of the companies have been highly successful and the kind of meaning they made are: Apple want to bring computing power to everyone and Google want to make information available to everyone.

2. Make a mantra: You choose two or three words that describe why your meaning should exist. Mantra explains why company should exist, like Nike’s mantra is Authentic Athletic Performance.

3.  Jump to the next curve: The companies have to define themselves in terms of the benefits they provide, because great innovation occurs when you get to the next curve. For example, the ice business have been in 3 different curves:

First Ice 1.0 Harvest curve: There was an ice harvesting business and during winter they cut blocks of ice in a frozen lake.

Second Ice 2.0 Iceman curve: It existed the ice factory (major technological breakthrough) and in this curve didn’t exits more limitations by climate or season they froze water centrally and delivered it by iceman.

Third Ice 3.0: Finally, Fridge or refrigerator curve: Here, all people can have their personal chiller.

But none of the companies jump to the next curve because they define themselves in terms of what they do.

4. Roll the dice: Innovators creates Innovative products and it has five qualities:

First, great innovations is deep: it has lots of features, lots of functionality. For example fanning sandal made by reef, this sandal has two purpose it’s to protect your feet and has a metal clip to open beer bottle.

Second, innovative products are intelligent: it means that you understand what people want and people’s problems. For example MyKey car made by Ford, it enables you that you can program the top speed of the car.

Third, great products are also complete: it is the totality of the products, for example it is the iOS developers if you’ve an iOS phone.

Fourth, innovative products are empowering: This products change the meaning of your life, they make you more creative. For example, Macintosh by Apple it becomes one with you and it makes you more productive and powerful.

Fifth, and finally, great products are elegant: innovators look after the user interface ???. It means that somebody care about the user interface.

5. Don’t worry, be crappy: Innovators can have elements of crappiness in to their revolution, when you have jumped to the next curve you should ship things that are innovate that have elements of crappiness to it.
