African students on NYC harassed on Ebola crisis
The ombudsman Letitia James, met the past Fryday with members of the African Comunity for listen several complaints about harassment and attacks on schools on children following an alert issued for possible infections of Ebola virus on west african people.
She said that we need an policy of no tolerance to acts of discrimination and bullying that the african people on NYC facing.
Ahmed Katgbo, the president of Sierra Leona Organizations, qualified the happened in a shcool of The Bronx the past 24 of octuber as an act of cowardience when two brothers of Senegal suffered serious injuries after they was beaten by his classmates.
He said that it was not another case of bullying, it is an attack. He said that it was investigated by the educación departament.
Oretha Bestman-Yates, president of the Liberian Community Association of Staten Island said that it is very sad explain to our childrens that they are mocked just for have african roots.
Sidique Wai, president of the congress of african nations united, said that one of the problems identified is that the distribution in the city about the Ebola material not properly reach to the African community because some people don’t read
