Gay rights
Two men are walking down the street very peacefully until they decide to kiss one another right out in the open. Some people look upon this as weird and others look upon it in disgust. Some even get angry about it. Is there a problem with what these men just did? Should they be left alone or reprimanded for what they have done? The issue of gay rights is very cloudy in our nation. Most of this is due to the problems with the issue, the reasons for controversy, and pros and cons of the issue.
As human beings we expect to be able to love who ever we want. We are said to be equals. But this is not the case at all. Beneath all the sugar coated thoughts that we have is the truth.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual people have been subtly denied these assumptions. In a lot of nations they aren’t allowed to be married. There are hate crimes committed against them. Just because a person is different doesn’t give anyone the right to hurt them in any form. So we are said to be equals as human beings, but they aren’t allowed to be as equals as the rest of us.
Homosexuals deserve equal treatment legally and socially. Being of homosexual orientation is like being born left-handed; it is natural, normal and unchosen.
The position of many governments and people in general, faced to the treatment and recognition must be given to homosexuals, is determined by old social and cultural stereotypes. (María de Montserrat Pérez Contreras, 2000)
Throughout the world homosexuals have been discriminated against for all types of different reasons and basically, all of them are unjust. Homosexuality is not caused by abuse at a young age, it is not curable, it is not a disease or disorder and it is definitely not learnt.
Despite being on the threshold of XXI century, homosexuality remains a taboo subject, which, if it can, it will be avoid. (Javier Gafo, 2004)
They are considerated detrimental to society, but what most people don’t realize is that they have the same care, compassion and love as anyone else.
Many of them are Christians and value God, family and the commitment to their partners. Everyone wants to point a finger and preach about how homosexuality is against God’s law; therefore they shouldn’t be allowed to marry. There is not a single piece of history that determines whether or not same sex marriage is right or wrong.
Same sex couples just want the benefits of being married like everyone else, just as benefits on health, getting to make decisions that are best for their spouse in extreme cases, etc.
Gay people have the same sexual and emotional needs than others, but resolved with same-sex people. (Félix López Sánchez, 2006)
Gay rights in my eyes are just the same as any other, such as civil and women’s rights. Today, many people want to get upset and feel uncomfortable around gays because they are different. That is the same
