here we I will attempt to prove beyond a shadow of my own doubt that morality is in fact an evolutionary process designed to assure the propagation of the human race. Throughout history mankind has always searched for the deeper meaning to life. The search for this deeper meaning inevitably leads to more questions, of course. But to even reach the point of asking, a person has to consider that life is more than just what the individual experiences.
Darwin promoted survival of the fittest. But morality seems to completely contrast that idea, with selfish, self-promoting behavior losing out to actions that favor the group instead. But how can this be? Just yesterday, in terms of the timeline of evolution, we were fighting to sprout legs and emerge from the primordial ooze. At what point did our supercomputer brains logic that it would be more beneficial for all to have a sense of duty to one another than to tough it out alone amidst the wild and the wastes.
Everybody wants to know, “How did we get here?” We could approach this question in many ways. From a scientific standpoint the question asks where, when and what is the starting point of our universe, and which conditions led up to that particular point. For years many scientists have held firm to the idea that a singular event known as the Big Bang, From a religious perspective, in my experience, there is no question about the beginning of anything. Very generally, the accepted belief is held that an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent being formed the universe, specifically the Earth, and its inhabitants from sheer power of will. All roads lead back to God, “who is the author and finisher” of faith (Bible).
A myriad of theories await our choice when humans ask “How did we get here?”
To pin point an answer one would have to narrow down the frame of reference. From a scientific standpoint, when we ask that age old question, we want to know where, what and when is the starting point of our universe. The next question, inevitably, is what happened before that then? Or, why did that starting point occur? What conditions existed or were necessary to precede the event that is the beginning of time? In an existential sense, some religious sects choose the idea of an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent being who formed the universe and its inhabitants from nothing.
How did we get here? This question can be approached and answered in many ways. To decide upon an acceptable answer, we must first know what constitutes “acceptable”, and what is understood by the word “proof”. Although some people I know would disagree, I think ideals of what is acceptable as proof can and do vary according to the target demographic. From a religious perspective, in my experience, all roads lead back to God, “who is the author and finisher” of the Christian faith (Bible). Anything that would be considered acceptable must align with the standards set
