Factors hindering effective communication

First we need to know what communication is. As J.William Pfieffer (1998) said communication is the capacity we have to transmit thoughts, feelings and needs with spoken or written words to other people.He also said that in simple words this is sending and receiving messages, but he argue that sending the massage does not mean there is communication. So it seems to me that communication is using the write vocabulary,the right words, and the proper language to make the reader or lisener understand exactly what you mean. Comunnication is really important since it is the tool we use to materialize our thoughts,feelings,emotions,needs and worries,so we need to understand what are the factors that hinder communication in order to convey the right message.

One of the factors that hinder communication is not knowing that people see the world differently depending in the culture and background. For instance may be the concept you understand of the word black it is not the same that a person from Africa have in his or her mind . Apart from that, what is clear for you may be uncoprehensible for others.In addition, my second language acquisition teacher has a different concept of school chair called he called them students desk.It is useful to know that one word or thing can have different meaning in different contextual situations.If you are not aware of this , so your communication could not be so good and will be hard to people to understand what you mean.

I would say that another factor that could hinder cumminication is when you are talking to some who has hurt you. I believe that you will not have a good communication in this situation because you will remembering the pain this person cuase you. For example, if for whaterever reason you are talking to your ex-boss, who treated you like if you were garbage you will not feel comfortable and it will be difficult to pay attention to what she or he says and it will also difficult for you to make you massage understandable.
