Communication Channel Scenarios
Scenario I
1. As a Marketing Manager, I was task with a project that has a very short deadline, because the importance of it, effective communication is essential. The task consist of developing in one week, a marketing strategy to internationalize a new product that is successful in the United States. To organize, develop the strategy, meet the deadline, accomplish the goal, and obtain good results, I will use the formal communication channel with my team combining oral or face-to-face with written communication.
2. Using face-to-face in a downward direction will give me the chance to deliver the message faster, this project needs to be done quickly and effectively, I got to take the right decision, I do not have time for mistakes, taking the wrong decision can lead the organization to losing money, prestige, and credibility. Face-to-face in a wheel network whereas a manager I will be the main figure will also give me the chance to suggest my ideas and receive a feedback and suggestions from my team. For reference I will present documentation such as plans of action, ideas for the marketing strategies used for the same product in the United States, resources, and with other marketing campaigns presented internationally. The combination of these two types of communication will help me and my team to quickly organize, analyzes, take right decisions, create plans of action to meet the deadline and make it a successful marketing strategy.
3. To communicate the strategy to the vice president of operations, I will use the informal communication in upward direction. I will schedule a meeting in the conference room if possible, and present the strategy and all details of it. Will be a one-on-one presentation, he will receive feedback on the project he delegated on me and my team.
4. I think is the best choice to communicate the vice president of operations in this situation because the nature of the project. I need to let him know what decisions I made, to meet the deadline and successfully reach our goal. I will be able to present directly to him, the pro’s and con’s, our course of action, the schedule, tell him my opinion on the outcome of the project and receive his feedback.
Scenario II
1. This scenario does not show how important is the affected application to perform the daily duties, I think that information is very important for the decision making in this case, so I am presuming the worst case scenario, from my point of view the application is essential to the department to perform duties, without the application the production of the entire department will be affected. So in that case, the best communication channel with the IT department will be the informal communication in a lateral direction, a phone call. This case can look simple, but in the same way it is not, all the employees, the entire department is affected,
