Political, social and economic issues | Sweden has often presented itself to the world in the past as a model of social justice and successful integration. The riots in the Stockholm suburb of Husby has seriously shaken the idyllic world of the Swedes. Some 12,000 residents live in Husby; 85-percent of them have an immigrant background. More than a third of the 20-25 year olds have no job. After the last economic crisis in 2008, the Swedish government was forced to implement austerity measures. The economic problems at the time were quickly remedied with reforms, but the financially weaker portion of the population was hit hard. | Unlike other major economies in Latin America, the Chilean economy has managed to remain stable. However, after years of steady growth (5% on average between 2010 and 2014), Chile has experienced an economic slowdown since 2015, mainly due to the fall in international copper prices (Chile is the world's largest exporter of copper). In 2016, growth decreased to 1.7%. Chile's unemployment rate decreased slightly in 2016 (7.1%). Poverty continues to affect almost 15% of its population, and there is a high level of inequality (one of the highest rates in the OECD). Reducing income inequalities and the country’s dependence on copper exports represent Chile’s main economic challenges in the long term. |

- Once you make the comparison, decide which country is the most promising target market for the product.
- Remember that you can justify your decision based on what you saw in Module 1, as well as on the information you gathered, which must contain:
- Why is that country the best option for the product?
- Chile
- What are the concepts that can be applied to the product market?
- Culture, economy, proximity, logistics, costs, government, religion.
- What are the strategies for the product?
- First, our culture is not so different, the language we speak is a strength, we can share ideas and negotiate with no problems; we must have the capable production to export, find out where we’re selling our product or to whom we are selling it and how we’re selling it, then we must do a logistics plan so we have our costs based on our budget, the distance we are crossing is a completely strength, we don’t waste that much money on transportation.
