Warm-up 10 min | T will interact with the class asking them some question in order to introduce the topic. (Simple Past)
Introduction 15 min | T will start making a story using the verbs that she has on the other slide making emphasis in the verbs with the –Ed. T will ask if they notice some difference in the pronunciation and then she will show the next slide. Voiced - This is easy to test by putting your finger on your throat. If you feel a vibration the consonant is voiced. Here is a list of some voiced consonants; b, d, th (as in then) v, l, r, z, j (as in Jane) Voiceless - Pronounce each of these consonant sounds and feel NO vibration in your throat: p, t, k,s, sh, ch, th (as in thing)
/t/ or /d/ → /id/ /p/ /f/ /s/ /∫/ /ʧ/ /k/ → /t/ all other sounds → /d/
Practice 10 min | T will give them some worksheets, and then T will give the directions. Ss will have to pronounce the following “ed” endings. They will have to write (T) for “t” sound. (ID) for and “id” sound, and (D) for a “d” sound. Then T will check the pronunciation and the answer in the board. After that T will start a game in teams of 4. They have to answer the correct answer according to the question. If another team knows the answer they can answer and steal their points.
Production 15 min | Now in the same teams they have to write a conversation using different verbs with different “ed endings” pronunciations.
