“ PRODUCT DISTRIBUTION: THE BASICS”
In logistics the most important thing is the distribution of the products, regardless of the products that we need to deliver, there needs to be a balance between the time and the restrictions that can be presented, since the priority is the satisfaction of the Customers.
To choose the most suitable mode of transport you should consider the budgets, the speed in the delivery of the products according to their characteristics defines their priority.
Securing the products according to their commercial value which must be agreed with the supplier or client to avoid misunderstandings, it is also required that they be monitored by a tracking system. In order for the products to not deteriorate the supplier must ensure that the shipments are properly packed and labeled minimizing risks. Transport is the movement of cargo in all the Foras that are known to be: aerial, maritime and terrestrial. By means of which inputs, raw materials and finished products are moved from one point to another according to a demand planning. If these three forms of product transfer are analyzed, it can be determined as follows: Air transport is carried out by means of freight or commercial aircraft, the sea transport is carried out by means of cargo ships, either for loose cargo or containers, and the terrestrial transport by means of trains and trucks of all type and size.
If these three types of product transfer are analyzed, it can be determined as follows: air transport is carried out by freighter or commercial airplanes, maritime transport is carried out by cargo ships, both for loose cargo or containers, and land transport by trains and trucks of all types and sizes. The aforementioned forms the movements of the logistics supply chain. The different types of transport will be used according to the following three variables:
- The distance of origin and destination
- The transport offer
- The final destination of the transport
The distance between the origin and the destination is essential because it defines the type of service level desired and the choice of the form of transport. The transportation offer: this is related according to the geographical and economic needs. The final destination of the product depending on the requesting country or city is essential to define the transport to be used. Maritime transport has important relevance to the rest. However, in order to reach the final customer, the most flexible transport is the truck. You can reach all points on the land map, unlike ships, trains or planes. Any of these types of transport will be more or less relevant depending on the level of service that customers want to provide.
