2ND CONDITIONAL
FUNCTION
- The second conditional is used to talk about hypothetical or imaginary situations in the present or in the future.
STRUCTURE
- If + S + simple past, S + would + infinitive
Condition result
- S + would + infinitive If + S + simple past
Condition result
- *If the “IF” clause comes first, a comma is necessary
- *** Remember, just in these kind of sentences (2nd conditional) if you use the verb to be in past form (was or were), you have to use “WERE” for all the subjects.***

- If I had a lot of money, I would buy a Mustang Shelby 67
- If I traveled to New York, I would visit the Yankee Stadium.
- If Betty were happy with her boyfriend, she wouldn´t be looking for another one
- If I were president, I would reduce taxes
- If Jason didn´t study, He wouldn´t have success in life.
- I would be happy if Monterrey won the Mexican Championship
- I would study for the next exam if I were you
- * You can use “could or might” instead of would.
- Examples
- If I worked in USA, I could have a better salary
- I might go to Europe next year If I didn´t spend money in stupid things
