Employee Data Base Analysis
Problem 1: Frequency analysis on gender, education level, employment category, and minority classification.
Gender | |||||
| Frequency | Percent | Valid Percent | Cumulative Percent | |
Valid | Female | 216 | 45,6 | 45,6 | 45,6 |
Male | 258 | 54,4 | 54,4 | 100,0
Total | 474 | 100,0 | 100,0 |
|
45.6% of the employees are women and 54.4% are men.
The frequency analysis on gender shows that 45.6% of the employees are Females, and 54.4% of the employees are Males.
Employment Category | |||||
| Frequency | Percent | Valid Percent | Cumulative Percent | |
Valid | Clerical | 363 | 76,6 | 76,6 | 76,6 |
Custodial | 27 | 5,7 | 5,7 | 82,3
Manager | 84 | 17,7 | 17,7 | 100,0
Total | 474 | 100,0 | 100,0 |
The analysis on employment category show that 76.6% of the employees are clerical, 5.7% are custodial, and 17.7% are managers.
The frequency analysis on education level in years shows the highest percentage on employees with 12 years of education, and the lowest percentage on employees with 21 years of education, with 40.1% and 0.2% respectively.
The frequency analysis on minority classification shows that 78.1% of the employees are not in a minority classification and 21.9% are in minority classification.
Problem 2: Crosstabs
The analysis shows a significant difference between gender and employment category. Males in the custodial employment category represent 100%, all persons in the custodial category are males. Also, 88.1% of managers are males. In the clerical category 56.7% are females.
There is also a significant difference between gender and educational level. 49 out 50 persons with a graduate education are males representing 98% of them. Females are shown in a greatest percentage only at the high school level representing 65% of them.
The analysis between minorities and education levels shows: only higher percentages of minorities at the high school level and college level (slight difference at college level). The percentage of employees representing minorities are lower at the bachelor level and graduate level of education.
Problem 3: T-test
There is significance difference between gender with regard to current salary and beginning salary.
The average of beginning salary for males is $20,301 while for females is $13,091. The beginning salary affects the current salaries of males and females, showing $41,441 for males (around double of the beginning) and $26,031 for females (around double of the beginning).
There is a significance difference between minorities and non-minorities with regards to current and beginning salary. The analysis shows that current and beginning salaries are higher for the employees that not represent minorities. The ones representing minorities usually had lower level of education thus lower beginning and current salaries.
Problem 4: ANOVA
The data analysis shows that Education level has a significant effect on Current salary and beginning salary. The average of beginning salaries are in a range of 20,000 going from high school level of education $13 thousand to graduate level at the top of the list with $32.5 thousand.
