Choconta pesticides problems

(Final Project planning)

What is our project about?

  • Our project is going to be a campaign to stop the use of the different pesticides that are affecting the different crops (fruits, potatoes, lettuce, onion and carrot etc). We are going to talk with many people, to know better how the pesticides are good to stop many insects that are in the crops. Also we all going to get many elements and materials to help us to know how the water is contaminate. We are going to know a lot of the components and the elements that are inside the pesticide. We are going to make a video, which inside it the people are going to talk many things about the use of pesticides. Finally we are going to solve the two questions that we made to solve the problems of the rivers and places in choconta.

Problem question:

  • Which type of pesticide affect especially the crops of the population in choconta, what elements are composed to made substance of pesticide, and how that its soo bad. Which solutions can it make to stop that?

  • If the people know that the pesticides affect very bad to the crops, the population and the different animals, why they are still using that to “clean” the crops of food?

Changes of the problem question:

  • We made a lot of changes in the problem question, because the first question that we created was so basic and very simply. We change to a better question with a good investigation of the topic that we selected to do our project.

  • With these question, we need to research more about the pesticides, the different crops that are affected by the different pesticides that the people use to reduce and killed many insect that are on the crops.

  • With that change of the question, we need more resources (primary or secondary) to have a good knowledge of the topic that we are working on.
  • These question is more complex to the other ones that we made before (how the pesticides affect the population, crops and the animals in choconta?)

Resources that we are going to use to work good on the project. (These elements and resources help us to stop the use of pesticides and different forms of discover some solution of that problem:

  • Oximetry. It measures the amount of oxygen dissolved in the water. Generically, we will say that the more dissolved oxygen is less polluted it is.

  • PH meter. Measure the pH of water. Ideally near neutral pH (7) but may vary.

  • Colorimeter. Not that measure the perceptible color our eyes, it is a device that, after adding certain reagents to the water sample, detect tiny variations in transparency, indicating the level of concentration of certain components in the water. It is a very useful device for indicating the presence of: Phosphates, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, sulfates, Chrome, etc.
  • People testimony. It’s very important to know how the people are thinking about the use of the different pesticides on the crops. If some of those people like the idea of the pesticides or not.
  • Cruz’s Farm it’s the basically the place that we are going to see the many crops that had been affected by animals and quemical substances by the pesticides
  • Lupe. To see which animals, and the water of the river have things inside the water, to know that the river had been contaminated for too many days by many things, and also the use of pesticides.
  • Webpages. It’s also very important to use web pages, to know better about, the elements that are composed the pesticide, which animals are attacking the crops (warms, insects, bees, beetles, rats…).  Also to research more about the place, many of the animals had been affected for the human activities, making a lot of deaths.
  • Methods to detect the contamination in water by the substances: in that method, we research about different method, and we selected the method of the sun, to see if the water was contaminate or not.
  • bucket: to test and prove the methods that we chose in order to rove the contamination in the water

Changes of the resources we made;

  • we change many resources like the tempter to know the temperature of the water, also we add many others materials like the PHmeter, Oximetry and the colorimeter to see in the water many things and how it affect the river by the pesticides.
  • Also the pesticides to know better all the elements to make a pesticide that kill many things of organisms in the crop.
  • The Lupe to know if the water is affect, why they throw the buckets in the water, to have more contamination?
  • Especially know all the organisms and insects that had been affected by those substances.
