Children and Video Games Essay
Video games have been available for the last 30 years; they are unique for the entertainment in children, making these their favorite hobby. These have been criticized for parents and children specialists for their impact in them. In today’s fast world we have allowed the technology how medium of learning, making the technology how the most powerful tool in the actuality but infortunality it doesn’t work always well. For over thousands of today’s children the video games have engaged the power to, in fat video games become to be the other parent or their best friend, making this today’s world problem. Studies show that video games cause some negative effects in children, including aggression, bad grades in school, and isolation.
First of all, aggression is the principal effect that video games have on children. Brad J. Bushman, at PhD in social psychology at Iowa State University said that here are many video games with a high level of violence affecting children (2002). The society is worried about these videos games incitation to addiction, depression and aggression on children. For example, he said that the more modern and popular games are violent such as Mortal Combat and that more children spend a lot time playing these and the result is that they tend to be more aggressive than children who play NBA Jam. In addition, Dr. Anderson said that another effect of aggression is video games influence on children (2002). He said that playing violent video games change children personality, changing their thoughts making children aggressive. The doctors, Brad & Anderson, want to show that aggression is the most important effect of video games in children, especially violent video games and the influence of these. These video games give children the idea that always the solution is the option of violence and changing children personality tending to be aggressive.
Another effect of video games in children is bad grades in school. It is because children spend a lot time playing video games and then they decline in school achievements. Studies realized by American Academic of Pediatrics show that children, who like play video games prefer, play video games than do homework (2011) they don’t want to pay attention to their studies only want to be playing. Additionally, these video games don’t offer children the chance to have creativity; they only want to do the same that the video games make. They prefer do the easier, don’t want to think and have their owned thoughts and this one effect of school decline. children in particular, the more time spent playing video games has a negative relationship with academic achievement, Douglas A.
