Should the government tax junk food?

Mexicans have always loved to eat and drink, but rapidly changing dietary habits have created a nation in danger of eating themselves to death. Among adults, a staggering 73 percent of women are overweight or obese; men are only marginally thinner, with 69 percent "abnormally" sized. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has proposed a steep excise tax on junk food in an effort to curb Mexico’s obesity problem. Common problems caused by the consumption of fast food would be: Risk of obesity, poor blood circulation, hypertension, higher chance of heart attack.

If we were to make a percentage of the product "fast food" would most abused rivaled between burgers and pizzas but the first, typically have a much higher percentage in almost all developed countries. Statistically United States, China and Japan are the largest consumers of fast food history. However, there has been a remarkable growth in some emerging countries: India, Brazil and Mexico.

The use of fast food in some cases, has been confused with the abuse of it many blame the added substances that have their products because they cause addiction and a significant increase in the desire to resort to "fast food ".

However, the increased consumption of junk food also has been favored by the daily circumstances of individuals. Stress, fatigue, hard days of employment, lack of time, etc. are some of the reasons why consumption has skyrocketed.

In my opinion taxing junk food to some people is a good idea and for others not at all. If we see it on the side government its better to prevent disease than afford hundreds of people damaged by them. Although the reality of our country is not possible to afford this. Unfortunately the minimum salary is not enough to cover the elementary basic needs of an average family, for many to take a soda it is ''a luxury´´ but for others would be a need.
