This web site contains extensive by year information on every country in the world including Brazil. Provides information on a country’s history, religion, communications, government, economy, international issues and other relevant subjects that can be of great use during the elaboration of my term paper. The primary sources for this website are obtained for the 2015 World Fact Book of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Provides primary characteristics and elements of culture and demonstrates how they influence international business. It also provides some basis to identify how one culture communicates with another. Discuss how religious values affect local and international environments. In addition, this chapter provides several theories to aid in the process of analyzing cultural similarities and differences such as Hall’s low and high context approach, cultural cluster approached, and Hofstede’s five dimensions. Lastly, it discusses cultural differences that affect international management.

This paper uses a hypothetical case to send and American manager to four different countries including Brazil. Findings from the Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness (GLOBE) research program are used to establish a solid basis of leadership differences. It discusses the challenges international managers faced when dealing with global corporations and suggests strategies for developing new leadership capabilities.

This article mentions a good amount of similarities amongst Brazil and the United States that otherwise I would not had considered. It also contains a blog of interesting conversations and participants’ disagreements contrasting both countries specifically the economic aspect of these. It is important to consider Brazil’s economic implications during expatriate training and when writing my term paper. For example, the acute water shortage affecting Sao Paulo reducing its hydroelectric output causing outages affecting MNE’s production and income and government plans to raise electricity prices.

Although this article is 19 years old it was included in the selection process due to the content of it material and the relevant issues global firms continue to faced when selecting, training and maintaining expatriates.
