Leadership

Decades of scientific study have not found the origins to understand the nature of leadership, but most of the articles give us a define approach on how to develop it. To be a great leader you must possess a mix of knowledge, values, skills, and ethical behavior. Every one of us has our own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have, and may never be able to agree upon these characteristics, but what we all can agree on is that leadership is of upmost importance for a company to be successful, and without leadership there is no company.

Regardless of the definition on how leadership can be captured, all organizations believe in its importance

To be a great leader you must possess a mix of knowledge, values, skills, and ethical behavior. Every one of us has our own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have, and may never be able to agree upon these characteristics, but what we all can agree on is that leadership is of upmost importance for a company to be successful, and without leadership there is no company. When analyzing how the company is doing in prosperous and hard times the spot light immediately turns to the leaders of the company. As most of the people know that two leaders will ever be the same, each will have their own particular style that they develop to influence their subordinates in progress of the company. Although leaders will use different methods to influence and keep team members or employees motivated.

Now day’s leader faces many challenges, especially during times of economic adversity in which we currently are, to face this type of hard time it is necessary for leaders to take an step back and analyze the situation from different prospective in order to find the best solutions to the problem and from there pick the best leadership style that suits the company. During times of economic hardship is difficult for some leaders to overcome the obstacles because they do not know how to deal with them. A recent article on New York Times, Business Day, Distilling the Wisdom by Adam Bryant, Bryant analyzes some of the C.E.O.’s offered opinions on the art of managing and leading. According to Bryant’s interviews. “When you have difficult situation, some people just take it and run with it. Some people see adversity and they cower,…says Nancy McKinstry, chief of Wolters Kluwer.” Some leaders lose focus and control of the situation that we are in today for this reason leaders most stand up and grab the style that best suit to confront the adversity and concentrate on the company’s future, especially during the present time.
