“It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness”
This means that the value of material things means nothing if you do not have real feelings, and real friends to share. When you learn to see beyond what is in plain view, and find the beauty that hides the world such as friendship, love, life, you will be really happy because just like that, you can enjoy your life. I agree with this statement as I have interpreted.
In Thornton Wilder’s story “Our town”, we can see how the Emily’s death, show her, the really meaning of the life.
In Disney’s movie Cars, we can see how the hard work, and really friends show to McQueen, that there are many things in life most important than himself, like help others and fall in love.
In Thornton Wilder’s story “Our town”, when Emily has grown up, she is fall in love of George but never told him and George loves her but never told her either. One day, George talk with Emily about his really feelings for her and they realized that they love them. They were suffering about that, because they want to be together, but when they clarify their feelings, they become really happy, because their love was requited.
When Emily dies, she has the opportunity to come back and relive one day of her life. She chooses her 12th birth, and she is really sad because she see how she and the other people let it pass their life. Life is always the same, people do not know about the wonderful of their life. The life always is there, doesn’t move, so we think that anything is normal, but as she is death; she can feel and see a lot of beauty in the unmeaning stuff like the food, the house, the neighborhoods, the cloth, the smell, everything is wonderful. She was alive and she just let pass the life and she want to come back and being alive again, but she can’t enjoy the life anymore.
In Disney’s movie Cars, we can see a particular car called McQueen, is so selfish and just want to be successful by him. He wants to win and no matters anyone, just him. McQueen for being so arrogant lost his team but he does not care, because he just thinks about him. He thinks that he is happy because he is well known and successful but in reality is empty because there is no one really important in his life. When his manager told him, that he has free tickets for the race for some friends; McQueen realizes that he has no friends.
McQueen gets lost on the way to California. He found a town that was in the oblivion of all cars. McQueen damaged the town road and therefore he has to stay to fix it. He knows the judge of the town and then he realizes that he was a very famous race car but for an accident loses all his fame and is forgotten. After that, he realizes that fame is not everything, because some day, the fame is gone and you won’t have nothing.
At the end of the film, McQueen is running to win the race
