DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

Taking into account, different children motivation problems about english, we as teachers have a great task to persuade students. Communication activities as well as an integral education are very important facts for children. For this reason, we understand the different difficulties children have learning english as a foreign language. In consequence a project called “children listening skills development” has arised, and we pretend through the listening skills, to improve grammar, conversation and writing

Listening to spoken english is an important way of acquiring “picking up” structures and vocabulary. In a situation where learners are living in a country where english is not spoken as the first language, they need to be given the opportunity to listening to spoken english as much as possible.

I need to give a solution to this situation, where I can establish clear objectives, which, we pretend will improve listening skills. We can bring a grammar knowledge and motivation into the classroom through communicative activities.

After this, I can introduce fundament concepts, different terms and very important theories for this project. Also, I can look at the methology where we show work units or thematic and different activities I can make during all the project.

DURATION

The project CHILDREN LISTENING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT will be perfomed in 28 hours in which enrichment activities will be done for communicative experiences on children.

PROYECT BENEFICIARIES

The proyect CHILDREN LISTENING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT involucrará a los estudiantes, del Colegio del Niño Jesús que se encuentran matriculados actualmente, cursan tercero de primaria, y cuyas edades oscilan entre 7 a 9 años, habitantes de Tuluá y municipios aledaños, pertenecientes a los diferentes estratos sociales. De igual manera este proyecto será enriquecedor para mi experiencia como docente y un desarrollo de una de las habilidades para la adquisición del un segundo idioma.

DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTEXT

This proposal is conducted with seventh graders at a private school located in Tuluá Valle, the school is called Colegio Del Niño Jesús and it is recognized in the community as a traditional school that follows strongly religious practicals, the school has four teaching levels with not many students in each classroom allowing teachers to provide a more personalized education, these educational levels are: kinder garden, primary education, secondary education and media vocational with emphasis on the BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.

In relation to the timetable, the classes are from 6:30 to 1: 30, although a recent modification was made because of the extension of the scholar year due to some policies of the Ministry of Education to fit in a national schedule, in this way the new timetable is from 6: 20 to 12: 30. Students spend three hours a week studying English as a foreign languages which are distributed in tree class, it means one hour per class.

The school counts with fifteen (15) rooms, one (1) audiovisual laboratory and a computing room, nevertheless the space for the recreation is limited. Concerning to the English material there are two (2) recorders, three (3) English courses and a set of English text books entitled YOU TOO for each grade, one of the principal tool is the audiovisual room that has internet and a video bean however it is too difficult to have access to work in this place because is mainly set aside to theater and dancing class.

The institution has 151 students 61 in the elementary school and 90 students belonging to the middle and high school; all of them with high middle level strata. in the other hand, the school counts with 19 teachers 10 are full time teachers and 9 chair hours teacher, almost all of the are bachelors in their corresponding knowledge field.

PHILOSOPHY

Our institution seeks for the integral formation of students, as the core asset of a society, which needs a change of reflection and analysis values that give dignity to the human being (LOVE, WORK and DISCIPLINE), without leaving aside the knowledge of reality which projects it as a productive individual, to be multipliers of enterprising spirit and the need to actively participate in improving their environment through the development of companies (BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION), with the deepest satisfaction to serve the development and welfare of humanity.

VISIÓN

We are bound to the future and as a building leader community to develop their creativity and ideas through BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, based on LOVE, WORK and DISCIPLINE.

MISSION

To accomplish the formal education of the student through the development of values and knowledge in BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, which includes providing the conditions for students to be able to build their own future

JUSTIFICATION

CHILDREN LISTENING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT was developed in order to improve English students learning at School “El Niño Jesus”, through the emphasis of listening skills and the use of materials involving the students in communicative activities. This Project emphasizes the listening skills; because it is necessary for the integral learning of students, “proficiency in listening comprehension makes a central contribution to the learner’s overall development of competency in the foreign language”

Through activities that emphasize the use of listening skills is to encourage students' motivation in learning English as a second language, while enrichening the vocabulary that is vital for the development of students communicative skills

At the same time this project aims to meet an statement of the new national education law:

"Act 115 of 1994, Third session, Article 21st paragraph M

Sets as objectives of Basic Education "The acquisition of conversation and reading elements, for at least one foreign language and Article 22 paragraph l, fixes as objectives of the Media Education: the understanding and ability to speak a foreign language"
