According to Greek mythology Narcissus was a beautiful young man who was very proud and cruel to everyone, even those who loved him. So the gods punished him.

One day he was hunting in the woods when he came close to a clear water fountain. He was very thirsty, so he stopped to drink. When he saw his own reflection in the water, he fell in love with himself. And so, he never left the side of the pool. He became pale and lost vigor.

One day he was looking at his own reflection when he suddenly died. A flower grew by the side of the pool.
