LESSON PLAN 1
Objective: To show the students different vocabulary related to their classroom environment and what they do daily.
ACTIVITY 1: DESERT ISLAND (Warm up)
AIM: To relax the kids.
PROCEDURE: We will draw something we would take to a desert island and the students will see it. After that we will ask them to think in the same thing and we will ask some of them to go to the board and draw what they would like to take to the desert island. Then we will ask them why.
PREPARATION: None.
MATERIAL: Markers.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 2: CLASSROOM MATERIALS (High challenge)
AIM: To make a little review about the vocabulary for classroom materials to our students.
PROCEDURE:
• Using the projector, we will show them different images where they will see the different materials and other objects related to the classroom environment.
• We will practice pronunciation and they will note them down.
PREPARATION: Make sure to bring the presentation.
MATERIAL: Power point presentation.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 3: WORD SEARCH (Low challenge)
AIM: To see if they can recognize the words that we just taught them.
PROCEDURE: We will give them worksheets with a word search game (sopa de letras) where they will have to find the different classroom materials that will be scattered there.
PREPARATION: Bring the sheets.
MATERIAL: Sheets.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 4: MATCH ACTIVITY (Low challenge)
AIM: To reinforce what was seen.
PROCEDURE:
• We will give them another sheet to work with. It will have in one side, the different names of the classroom materials and in the other side their respective function.
• They will have to match them with lines.
PREPARATION: if teacher doesn’t have the sheets, he can write on the board the function of each material, and the students will write the name of the material..
MATERIALS: Sheets.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 5: STOP WRITING (Low challenge)
AIM: To reinforce what was seen.
PROCEDURE:
• The teachers will ask the students to take out their notebooks each one.
• Each one has to write as many words related to classroom materials in one minute.
• The teacher will take all the sheets when they have finish, and will count all the words.
• The student who gets more wins a prize.
PREPARATION: if they don’t want to write the teacher will tell them that there is going to be a price for the winners.
MATERIALS: prize.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
LESSON PLAN 2: ASKING FOR THE LOCATION OF THINGS IN A CLASSROOM
Objective: That our students have a repertory of different prepositions to link nouns, pronouns and phrases in a sentence.
ACTIVITY 1: ANIMAL, VEGETABLE OR MINERAL (Warm up)
AIM: To make our students feel comfortable.
PROCEDURE: We will put a name of an animal, a vegetal or a mineral on the board. They will have to raise their hand and answer, one person at the same time. If they answer without raising the hand or if they answer wrong, they will have to act like an animal the class will chose. If they answer right they will have a prize.
PREPARATION: Make sure to bring the prizes or the game will have no much meaning.
MATERIAL: Markers, prizes.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 2: SHOW THE PREPOSITIONS (High challenge)
AIM: To introduce the prepositions of place that our students will need to create more elaborated sentences.
PROCEDURE: Using the mimic, we will show them the prepositions of place and time accompanied. They will have to pronounce them after us and write them on their notebooks with their translation. We will explain all the prepositions as well as we can in order to allow them to understand all of them in the best way they can.
PREPARATION: we need to be very specific and try to encourage them to watch very careful at our movements, because that is going to be our explication..
MATERIALS: no need.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 3: TELL ME WHERE IT IS (High challenge)
AIM: To see if they understood the topic.
PROCEDURE: Using the material that is the classroom, we will ask our students where the scholar material is, using the desk in the front of the classroom as reference. They will have to tell us “The eraser/pencil/notebook/pen is… above/under/behind… etc the desk”.
PREPARATION: make sure you ask to all the students at least one question, for making sure that all of them are participating.
MATERIALS: just all the material they have for going to the classes.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 4: A GAME OF PREPOSITIONS (High challenge)
AIM: To reinforce what we just saw in class.
PROCEDURE:
• We will take everyone outside.
• They will make 3 horizontal rows.
• Each student will have on the hand one material of the classroom. For example one student is going to have a pencil in the hand, another one is going to have a book, and so forth.
• Then we will ask to one student where another classmate that we chose is.
• They will have to tell us if he or she is between whom, next to who, behind or in front of who. Who answers wrong will be going out. At the end, the remaining win prizes.
PREPARATION: None.
MATERIAL: make sure each one of your students have some school utensil in the hand.
TIMING: 20 minutes.
LESSON PLAN 3; TALKING ABOUT SCHOOL JOBS.
Objective: the student will identify the work done for people who work in a school.
ACTIVITY 1: STRECHING (Warm up)
AIM: To make the students get energy for the rest o the class.
PROCEDURE:
- The teacher will ask the students to stand up and make the movements the teacher does.
- If the teacher stretch his leg the children will do the same, those movements are for kids for having fun at the beginning of the class
PREPARATION: The students who don’t participate will have a cordial invitation to pass to the front and do the routine for the rest of the class.
MATERIALS: None.
TIMING: 5 minutes.
ACTIVITY 2: SEARCHING FOR THE MEANING
AIM: the student swill able to recognize the work done for people who work in a school.
PROCEDURE:
• The teacher will bring to the classroom some dictionaries for the students in which they will search the verbs of the work done by people of a school.
• The teacher will ask the students to form groups of 4 people.
