GRAMMAR TOPIC: The Months Of  The Year

CONTEXTUALIZE TOPIC: Saying and writing what is the month of their birthday.

AIMS

MAIN AIMS: Learning to write and pronounce the months of the year.

PERSONAL AIMS: - To make an enjoyable class using didactic activities where the participation be incorporated, movements, songs and others dynamic activities.
- To have appropriate relationship with students so that they will feel comfortable in class.


ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:

If the students don't want to work in class the teacher will have to use a new strategy to motivate them.
Perhaps if students knew about the topic, the teacher will have to assign them a more difficult classwork.

  1. MATERIALS:  Video beam, speaker, computer, board, markers, copies.

The teacher will enter to classroom, will greet the students and will tell them a few personal information about her e.g. her name, her age, her expectations about these course etc. Then, each student will say her/his name and age. Next, the teacher will call the attendance and she is going to do a short exercise with her students. When the teacher will say them about some commands. So the teacher will say a command and will demonstrate what this means. Thus students will have to repeat the command and do the demonstration.

WHILE

After this previously activity, the teacher will say them the topic for that class and will write it on the board (The Months Of The Year) So, the teacher will ask students about how many months there are. After that, the teacher is going to show a short video about that topic. The teacher will play it three times. So, the students have to pay attention because when the video finishes the teacher will ask them about spelling and pronunciation of the months. Then, the teacher will write on the board the capital letter of each month and the students have to guess and write the name's month. They have to write them on their notebooks.

Next, together teacher and students will discuss about when their birthday is. With this in mind, the teacher will help students to make a sentence to say which one is the month of their birthday. For instance, my birthday is in February.

SKILLS:
Listening:
 the students will listen to the teacher’s examples and explanations during the class.

Writing: the students will write each month of the year.
Speaking: the students will pronounce each month of the year and they will say when their birthday is.

After, the teacher will give them some copies about drawings that represent important activities carried out in specific months. So they will have to match each symbol to    the correct month. They will do it in couples.[pic 1]

Finally, the students will write the homework that is about writing the most important activities are carried out in each month of the year.
